October, 2006: Head of the American, 2006
Lions Rowing Club members raced this past weekend at the Head of the American, hosted by the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Lake Natoma, Sacramento

LionsRC members raced in several sculling events, bringing home 2 gold medals and one silver.

In the open single, Shelle Orem placed first of the four entries in her event. In the lightweight single, Sara-Mai Conway also raced to a gold medal finish.

Andria Shook and Susie Kloet competed in the Open 2x and placed a strong second having dealt with equipment failure mid-race.

In the Master's Singles, both Larissa Zavarzina and Kathy Hein competed in their first singles events for the Lions. Zavarzina placed 6th and Hein finished 10th in the field of twelve.

The Lions will race next on their home course for the Head of the Marina on Saturday, November 11th followed by the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival on Sunday, November 12th.
