Los Angeles, CA – 54 Members of the Lions Rowing Club and their guests
attended dinner at Truxton’s of Westchester on Saturday night to celebrate
the First Annual Leo Awards.
The event was wonderfully put together and hosted by the hard working LionsRC
Awards Dinner committee of Adrienne Lao, Hope Wilkinson,
Erika Anderson, Kathryn Riccio, Suzanné Simmons, Denise Cusano and Anna
Liberovsky. Upon arriving, members were greeted by the
welcoming committee of Anna and Suzanné,
and presented with name tags adorned with the official
Leo Award logo, designed by member Ondine Jarl. Framed
photographs by member Hope Wilkinson, served as centerpieces
and consisted of portraits of several of the attendees.
Members also enjoyed a slide show of Hope’s photographs
throughout the evening and were encouraged to go home
with their own centerpiece photo.
The highlight of the evening’s festivities was the presentation of awards, and
the drawing of the raffle. Raffle items included 50 free photographs from Hope’s
website, www.bluegnomes.ifp3.com, group and private erg lessons with LionsRC
Head Coach Iva Boteva,(www.LARowingCoach.com) and LionsRC hats. The grand-prize,
a week-long trip to Craftsbury Sculling Center in Vermont, valued at over $1,000
went to lucky member Liz Greenberger.
Awards presentations consisted of two categories of awards, coaches awards and
member-voted awards. Coaches awards were selected by rowing coaches Iva Boteva
and Shelle Orem, while the members have spent the past month nominating and voting
for their own set of awards. Over 45 members participated in the on-line voting
system. The actual Leo Award itself was a coveted Lion bobble-head doll, seen
in the photo with member Liz Greenberger, winner of coxswain of the year.
